Dr. Maw, Dr. Inserra and physician assistant, Behrouz Farsi specialize in Otology-Neurotology. This is the subspecialty that focuses on the functions of the ear and its complicated related structures. A first appointment in our office involves 2 actual appointments, the first for a complete diagnostic hearing test and the second with the medical physician. This also applies to patients with dizziness and balance problems who may not have any symptoms of hearing loss. If you have had previous hearing tests, bring them with you, but please understand that repeat testing is usually necessary to serve you with the best medical care and advice. We can’t verify the accuracy of outside audiograms. If you have a history of wax issues, or have any drainage from your ear, please inform us of these symptoms and your appointments will be structured so that your ears will be cleaned prior to your hearing test.
Please bring all your previous medical records pertaining to your ear problem with you to your appointment. Previous doctor notes, OR reports and audiograms are helpful to us. If you are being seeing regarding the results of an MRI or CT scan, or if an MRI or CT scan was ordered for your condition, please bring the studies (on CD) and reports with you or notify us and allow us to request these from your referring audiologist, doctor or surgeon.
If you are being referred to this office for a diagnostic test of your hearing or balance, ordered by another doctor, and are not to see a physician at EARS Inc., please ensure this is clarified with the office staff when you schedule your appointment.
If you are already considering obtaining a hearing aid at the time of making your appointment, please let us know and we will gladly coordinate your hearing test, physician visit and hearing aid consultation all in the same day for your convenience. There is no charge or obligation for a hearing aid evaluation.
If you are coming to our office for a hearing aid consultation, it is important to consider bringing a loved one along for this educational appointment. Many patients wish to have the opinion of a family member regarding their hearing aid selection and the voice of your loved one is used by our staff in fitting and programming your device.
